What’s it all about?
After many conversations with parents and students about what they want in a summer camp, we’ve developed a camp that will meet everyone’s needs. The following information should answer many of your questions. If not, please contact us with any questions.
kidstheatreWEST takes campers from ages 4-17. To make sure that each student is being challenged, classes in our 4 week camps are divided according to age groups. Groups typically are divided among 8-10 year olds, 11-13 year olds and 13 year olds and above.
Camps meet from 9-4 daily. There is before and after care available for an additional cost for all camps.
One of the most frustrating things about rehearsing plays for campers is that not everyone is busy at the same time. The nature of theatre is such that inevitably actors are sitting around waiting while the director gets to their scene. At kidstheatreWEST we strive to make sure that no one is sitting around without anything to do. Campers who are not working with the director will attend enrichment classes with teachers specializing in topics such as stage combat, improvisation, audition technique and voice!
When registering, you have an option of paying the full price for the camp, or a deposit. However, other payment plans are available. Please contact us @ 303 507 7424 for more information.
Sign up for more than 1 camp $100 off total price!
Refer a Friend $ 25 per referral
Refunds will be given until the first day of camp, minus a 10% administration fee. No refunds are given after the first day of camp.
Before & After Care
Official camp is 9am to 4pm Monday through Friday. If campers need to come early or stay late, they may be dropped off as early as 8am and picked up as late as 5pm.
The cost of this service is $8 per hour, $60 per week, or $200 per session for our 4 week camps, $110 per session for our 2 week camps. If you need before and/or after care, please schedule it at least one week before so that we can make appropriate staff available.
Each student will need to purchase and provide the following supplies each day.
1. 1 quart water bottle filled with water.
2. Jazz Shoes
3. Notebook for taking notes.
4. Cold lunch
5. 2 healthy snacks
To help keep the costs as low as possible, we ask each family to help in two areas: set building and performance support.
Set building is led by one of the directors and it usually involves painting and/or building sets. This activity usually takes place a couple of evenings during the week or on a Saturday. We are planning to include the students as much as possible in this activity.
Performance support takes place during the dress rehearsals (if possible) and during the performances. Various jobs need to be done before and during the performance to make sure that each performance runs as smoothly as possible. For example, parents are needed backstage to help with costume changes and to help with entrances and exits.
We also ask a parent to volunteer to be the Lead Parent. The Lead Parent is responsible for:
· communicating with the parents about volunteer activities
· getting parents to sign up for the shows
A Lead Parent packet will be provided. It takes about 1-2 hours per week to be the Lead Parent. Most of the work can be done via email.
Students are expected to dress comfortably and be ready to move.
Tickets for the performances are $ 8 for children under 12 and $ 10 for adults. Each actor will receive 2 complimentary tickets for all performances. 2 and 3 week camps will perform 3 times, on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. 4week camps will perform 4 times, on Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.
All shows will be held at the Eugenia Rawls Theatre. For a link, click here
Many schools are willing to give high school credits for participating in a summer camp program like this one. If you are interested in doing this for your student, please check with your home school and find out what paperwork needs to be completed. We will be glad to complete any paperwork necessary to help with this process.
